Stephen Bernstein and his wife, Leslie, live in Newton. They have two daughters. Steve is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery, LLP. He is based in the Boston office and co-leads the firm’s Digital Health Practice, co-leads the firm’s Life Sciences Practice, and is a member of the firm’s Management Committee. He has previously served on the firm’s compensation, finance, and executive committees, and from 2009-2018, Steve served as the firm’s Global Head of Healthcare. He also plays a lead role in the firm’s newly launched McDermott Rise program, a program designed to provide a set of free legal services and other supports to entrepreneurs of color. Steve is nationally ranked in Chambers and Partners for Healthcare and has been named in U.S. News & World Report Best Lawyers and New England Super Lawyers. A magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, Steve received his JD cum laude from Boston College Law School, where he served on the Boston College Law Review. At JF&CS, Steve is an active member of the CHAI Services Advisory Committee, and the former Chair of this Committee. In his spare time, Steve pursues his interests in cooking and fishing. The Bernsteins are members of Temple Shalom in Newton.
