It’s easy to support JF&CS and to immediately help thousands of individuals and families successfully navigate transitions and overcome challenges. We are grateful for contributions of any size.
Exciting news! As of January 2023, every charitable donation made in Massachusetts can be deducted from your state income tax return. Please contact our Director of Donor Engagement, Jill Snider, for details.

Making a gift of securities is both simple and tax-efficient because you receive a double tax benefit. With a gift of appreciated securities, you are entitled to a federal income tax charitable deduction if you itemize your return. For appreciated securities held longer than one year, you may deduct the full fair market value of your gift. A second tax benefit with a gift of appreciated securities is that you avoid any capital gains tax.

The donor-advised fund (DAF) is becoming an increasingly popular way to make a charitable gift. DAFs can provide you with immediate tax benefits while making your charitable giving easier. Here are two simple ways you can make a gift through your DAF:
- Make an outright gift by suggesting a grant to JF&CS.
- Designate JF&CS to receive all or a portion of the fund value upon the termination of the fund.
You can select the option that best suits your philanthropic and financial goals to support JF&CS. Just contact your fund administrator to request a distribution or beneficiary form or download the appropriate form(s) from your administrator’s website.
Please note: Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon DAF grants can be initiated using DAF Direct.
When making a DAF gift to JF&CS, please provide the following information to your administrator:

Maximize your charitable giving while minimizing your taxable income. An IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (IRA QCD) is a rewarding and easy option for donors age 70.5 and older.
Once you reach the age of 70.5, the IRS allows you to donate up to $100,000 per year, tax-free, directly from your IRA to charitable organizations of your choice. If your spouse is also 70.5 years old or older, and has a separate IRA, you each may contribute up to $100,000. The amount of the IRA QCD is limited to the amount of the distribution that would otherwise be included in income.
Please contact your IRA plan administrator to start the distribution process. When they’re ready to send your contribution, they can make the check payable to “JF&CS” and mail to:
