Mitzvah to Mitzvah

Every child should enjoy their Jewish coming-of-age, even when their families lack financial resources.
There are a number of families in our community unable to afford a Bar/Bat Mitzvah for their children. This often invisible need in our community is now being addressed by the staff and volunteers of an important initiative, Mitzvah to Mitzvah.

It enables families to celebrate the joy of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah by providing financial support for the occasion. This program can help defray the cost of a tutor, subsidize the cost of a room rental or help sponsor a Kiddush luncheon for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah whose family is experiencing financial challenges.

Help us fund Mitzvah to Mitzvah: Rent a Mitzvah Basket
Through our Mitzvah Basket Program, funds are raised to support Mitzvah to Mitzvah. Here's how it works: those families celebrating a simcha can rent a Mitzvah Basket in lieu of, or in addition to, flowers for the bimah in the synagogue. These beautiful baskets are filled with empty boxes (for ease of carrying) of kosher food, faux flowers, fruits and vegetables and are quite large and striking, about two and a half feet across and two feet high. To view sample baskets, click here.

The celebrating family makes a contribution of $180 to JF&CS or directly to Mitzvah-to-Mitzvah and gets to display these baskets on the bimah, or in a kiddush room during a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, wedding, bris, baby naming or other celebration.
